I’m excited about the Delta DVR. This unit is so robust, there is very little that it can’t do. I think the philosophy behind this smart tv box / smart dvr is that one box should be able to do it all. If your home bandwidth can handle it, the Delta DVR can record up to 6 channels simultaneously. This smart DVR runs on Windows Embedded and the Delta DVR is one of the first set top boxes to run on Windows Media Center.
Not sure where to start, but let’s mention the connectivity. The Delta DVR have 4 front facing USB 3.0 ports and 2 USB 2.0 ports on the rear. There is an HDMI port, a DisplayPort to connect any screen you like and a Gigabit Ethernet port. It has Bluetooth, SATA 6GB/s port for external storage, and a front facing SD slot. Lest we forget that has a slot-loading Blu-ray drive which will also function as a DVD burner. Since this is a robust set top box, it comes with a 3TB hard drive. Yes, that’s not a typo. It has a 3TB drive inside!
A big selling point of the Delta DVR is in the gaming abilities. With the USB ports, you can connect most any gamepad or joystick. This set top box utilizes The Happy Cloud which is an online streaming game application. Check their website for more details about The Happy Cloud here.
We’ve mentioned the Delta DVR as being a smart tv box, but you could essentially call it a smart DVR. It has the ability to run Android apps, hence the “smart” reference. To do this, the Delta DVR utilizes BlueStacks which allows for Android Apps to run on Windows.
We also need to mention that the Delta DVR has a browser although we don’t have enough details just yet in that regard. In case you’re wondering, the Delta DVR can connect to your home network for viewing photos or other media. If you’re wondering about the ability of the Delta DVR to play various media formats, here is what they say: “We are working hard to ensure support for all common codecs/formats.” We need to also mention (there is so much to mention in term for features we are forgetting a few things) that the Delta DVR is voice control enabled. It appears that the smart tv box will come with a remote control that has voice control features.
You might ask what processor this box has inside. Whiteman Technology isn’t specifying the processor just yet other than to say it’s an AMP Fusion APU.
Release dates and pricing has yet to be announced.
I recommend you visit their official website here and view a forum thread here where you can ask questions directly about the Delta DVR.
