This new technology/software news is from a couple months back but it’s definitely worth talking about. The hope here is that the manufacturers will use Myriad “Alien Vue” in their existing internet connected televisions or set top boxes. The company is Myriad, and the software is named Alien Vue.
Essentially Alien Vue allow for non Android or Google TV set top boxes or televisions to run Android apps which are designed for Google TV and HTML5 app compatibility which includes apps like Netflix, Tritter and YouTube. Another great feature of Alien Vue is that is allows crossover functionality to tablets or smartphones. In other words you can control the television or set top box with either a tablet or smartphone.
We feel that this software will simply open up more existing tv set top boxes to be smart tv or Google TV enabled. It’s about the apps isn’t it?
